¡El American Space abrió hace un mes!

¡Celebramos que hace UN MES abrimos el American Space!
Ha sido un mes muy emocionante y estamos realmente agradecidos a tod@s los que nos han apoyado y acompañado. Tenemos una gran variedad de eventos y les recordamos que todos son gratis y abiertos al público.
Aquí dejamos un resumen de todo lo que está pasando en el American Space. Estamos recién empezando…vamos por más!

English Teacher Training

English Teacher Training In April, Jeff McIlvenna presented “Language Asessment in the TEFL Classroom,” and in May, Lisa Wakefield presented Connecting Students to Communicative Language Through Active Engagement Strategies. MakerSpace: Python, HTML & CSS

We kicked off Tech MakerSpace activities with two workshops:  Programming 101 and Build Your First Web Page. Annie walked us through Python, HTML & CSS! Participants were able to try out their new knowledge and get started on their very own projects!

The American Space Robotics Club

Congratulations to the new members of our American Space Robotics Club! We’ll be kicking off the club run by Pizza Mecánica 5512 on Thursday, May 18th at 16:30.

EducationUSA Workshops

Come to EducationUSA’s informative chats; we cover everything from entrance exams & student visas to workshops to improve your skills! Effective Reading, Improving Your C.V, and Citation workshops will all improve your English skills and facilitate the application process.

MakerSpace: Van Gogh & Artequin

Museo Artequin came to the Institute to share Van Gogh’s art with us! Participants painted one of his masterpieces on a backpack to take home. Sign up for our next workshop with Artequin on June 8th by emailing americanspace@norteamericano.cl

Conversation Groups

Join our free conversation groups open to the public! We have beginner, intermediate, and advanced groups plus a youth group at 16:30 every Friday. Practice your English and chat about everything from luck to communication.

Guest Speaker: Social Media, Privacy, and You

Dominiquo, a data scientist from MIT, explained to us where our data goes once we put it on social media, how it’s stored, and opened a discussion about how to maintain privacy in the digital age.

Sour Jazz Band & Jazz Month

After opening April with a concert at the Universidad Diego Portales, we hosted a jazz exhibition on the American Space terrace. We finished off a jammin’ jazz month with a concert from the Sour Jazz Band. It was a packed house!
